Specific heat of robust Nb2PdS5 superconductor
We report specific heat under different magnetic fields for recently
discovered quasi-one dimensional Nb2PdS5 superconductor. The studied compound
is superconducting below 6 K. Nb2PdS5 is quite robust against magnetic field
with dHc/dT of -42 kOe/K. The estimated upper critical field [Hc2(0)] is 190
kOe, clearly surpassing the Pauli-paramagnetic limit of 1.84Tc. Low temperature
heat capacity in superconducting state of Nb2PdS5 under different magnetic
fields showed s-wave superconductivity with two different gaps. Two
quasi-linear slopes in Somerfield-coefficient as a function of applied magnetic
field and two band behavior of the electronic heat capacity demonstrate that
Nb2PdS5 is a multiband su-perconductor in weak coupling limit with
deltagamma/deltaTc=0.9.Comment: 4 pages text Figs. Short Letter MS. Letter-J. Sup. & Novel Ma
Purification of large bicolorable graph states
We describe novel purification protocols for bicolorable graph states. The
protocols scale efficiently for large graph states. We introduce a method of
analysis that allows us to derive simple recursion relations characterizing
their behavior as well as analytical expressions for their thresholds and fixed
point behavior. We introduce two purification protocols with high threshold.
They can, for graph degree four, tolerate 1% (3%) gate error or 20% (30%) local
error.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, revtex; typos and clarifications adde
TV News Story Segmentation Based on Semantic Coherence and Content Similarity
In this paper, we introduce and evaluate two novel approaches, one using video stream and the other using close-caption text stream, for segmenting TV news into stories. The segmentation of the video stream into stories is achieved by detecting anchor person shots and the text stream is segmented into stories using a Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) based approach. The benefit of the proposed LDA based approach is that along with the story segmentation it also provides the topic distribution associated with each segment. We evaluated our techniques on the TRECVid 2003 benchmark database and found that though the individual systems give comparable results, a combination of the outputs of the two systems gives a significant improvement over the performance of the individual systems
